Bucknell Women's Lacrosse Players and Team Remain in National Ranks

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior goalkeeper Nicole Kallis, senior midfielder Melissa Montefusco and sophomore midfielder Amy Hasler are all ranked nationally in the latest release of the 2002 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Statistics, update through games as of March 31, 2002. In addition, the Bison squad appeared among the nation's leaders in four categories.
Kallis remains in the top-three in the country in save percentage, boasting a .636 save percentage through nine games for third on the national list . The goalkeeper is also ninth in the nation in goals against average with a 7.44 GAA. With 24 saves against Lafayette on March 23, Kallis had the second-highest single-game save performance in the nation this season.
Montefusco is ranked nationally in three categories and the co-captain recently recorded the best scoring performance in the country. With seven goals and five assists in Bucknell's 17-9 win over Niagara on March 30, Montefusco had a hand in 12 of BU's scores, giving her the highest single-game point total in the country to date. Her seven goals also tie two other players for single-game best, and her five helpers is the fourth-highest single-game total this season. With her performance, she jumped 10 places since last week and is now ninth in the nation with 1.78 assists per game, leading the team with 16 assists through eight games. In addition, her 3.89 points per game place her 18th among the national leaders. On the defensive side of the ball, Montefusco is 13th in the country in ground balls per game with a team-best 3.89.
Hasler makes her first appearance in the national statistics, standing in 20th place with 3.44 ground balls per game.
As a team, the Bucknell squad holds the countries eighth-best scoring defense, allowing only 7.44 goals per game. The Bison are also getting it done on offense, outscoring opponents by an average of 2.44 goals per game for the 19th highest scoring margin in the nation. The Orange and Blue also rank 25th nationally with 11.11 caused turnovers each time out, and stand tied for 24th in the country with a .556 (5-4) win percentage.
After a 9-6 win over Monmouth on April 2, Bucknell is currently 6-4 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison travel to Holy Cross for a crucial Patriot League contest with the Crusaders on April 6 at 12:00 p.m.
