Bucknell Women's Tennis Notches 5-2 Win at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - Freshmen Nadezda Curcic and Ashley Diers were both dual winners on the day as the Bucknell women's tennis team defeated Delaware, 5-2, in Newark, Del., on Saturday, March 30. The Bison improve to 8-4 overall with the victory.
The Fightin' Blue Hens took the early lead in the match after winning two of three doubles points to go ahead 1-0. Diers and Curcic were Bucknell's lone winners in doubles action, teaming up at No. 2 to defeat Anisha Talati and Martine Street, 8-5.
Delaware picked up its only other point at No. 1 singles as Elly Giese narrowly defeated Jill Wurzburg, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. The Orange and Blue claimed the No. 2 through No. 6 singles on their way to the 5-2 victory. Curcic got things started at No. 2, picking up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Jessica Wilkes. Diers and Inglis had a rough time at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions, respectively, before Diers emerged the 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 victor over Talati and Inglis defeated Street, 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3. Freshman Tanya Sichko handled Delaware's Christine Knox, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5, and sophomore Samantha Berthod came away with the 7-5, 6-3 win over Beth Principe at No. 6.
The Bison improve to 8-4 overall and are in action next on Sunday, March 31, when they travel to Patriot League rival American for a 10:00 a.m. match.
