Bison Women's Basketball Wins 96-69 Over Colgate in Final Home Game of Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's basketball team shot .750 (24-32) from the field in the opening half, and a school record .661 (41-62) for the game, on its way to a 96-69 Patriot League victory over visiting Colgate University on Saturday afternoon. The contest was the final home game of the season for the Bison.
The Orange and Blue were hot from the opening tip, making their first 10 shots of the game and going 14-for-16 from the floor in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Leading by just one, 17-16, at the 15:31 mark, Bucknell embarked on 7-0 run over a two minute span to push the advantage to eight, 24-16. A Colgate three-pointer with 13:03 to go got the Raiders within five, but that was as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way. The score stood at 27-21 at the 11:20 mark, before the Bison held the Raiders scoreless for nearly five minutes while building a 20-point advantage, 41-21.
Bucknell's largest lead of the half was the 59-32 halftime margin of 27. With 59 points in the frame, the Orange and Blue set a Bucknell record for points in a half, and tied the Patriot League mark.
The second half was more evenly matched with both teams scoring 37 points in the stanza. Bucknell stayed hot, shooting .567 (17-30) for the half on the way to the Bucknell record .661 (41-62) field goal percentage for the game. The Bison led by as many as 34 in the half, but the Raiders closed the game on a 10-4 run to get to the final deficit, 96-69.
Junior Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), who had a points-assists double-double by halftime, led all players with 29 points and 12 assists. Playing in her final home game, senior Vicki Quimby (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) shot 9-for-11 from the floor for 19 points, while classmate Kate Rounsley (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven) added 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting. Senior Monique LeBlanc (Cumberland, R.I./Bishop Feehan) led all players on the glass with eight rebounds.
Bucknell improves to 17-8 overall and 10-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison travel to Holy Cross on Tuesday, February 19, for a first-place showdown with the Crusaders. Colgate falls to 11-16 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
