Bison Volleyball Captures Patriot League Win Over Holy Cross, 3-0

LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Friday evening, Bucknell women's volleyball captured their 14th win of the 2002 season over Holy Cross with a 3-0 victory. The Bison improve their Patriot League record to 8-4, while inching closer to a League playoff slot.
Bucknell stepped on the court with a goal to capture its second victory of the season over the Crusaders. The Bison recorded their first win in game one of the match, 30-28. In the second game, the Orange and Blue continued the winning streak to register a 30-21 result. Bucknell ran with the score after returning from the intermission to seal the match with a 30-21 victory.
Senior Melanie Ghiz led the Bison when she completed 15 kills for the night and hit .303 for Bison. Junior Brandi Trapasso also marked double digits in the kill category with 10 and tallied 12 digs. Junior Breean Trapasso recorded 35 assists and a team-high 18 digs during the three-game match. Bucknell started Carolyn Dougherty in the Libero position and in the second game registered Chelsea Anderson to fulfill the special position. Dougherty captured six digs, while Anderson finished with 11. Senior Jennifer Wrigley added 10 digs for the Bison to total 74 digs in tonight's match.
The victory advanced the Bison closer to capturing a berth in the Patriot League Playoffs. Bucknell improved their record to 14-11 overall and now mark 8-4 in the Patriot League. Bucknell will host Patriot League opponent Army tomorrow evening, Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 p.m. in Davis Gymnasium.
