LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior twins Breean and Brandi Trapasso (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) have received the October Athlete of the Month Award for volleyball from local co-sponsors K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Thursday, Nov. 7. Sponsored by K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of October, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Keey Burrows for field hockey, senior Nicki Piper for cross country and sophomore Annie Greenspun for women's soccer.
The Trapasso twins are both three-year participants for the Bison volleyball squad. Breean had captured career match-high 61 assists in a four-game match against Colgate on Oct. 18. Brandi had recorded her 1,000th career dig against Holy Cross on Oct. 11. She now stands in third place on the all-time top-10 list.
The volleyball team heads into the weekend with a 13-11 overall record and are 7-4 in the Patriot League. The Bison will face two Patriot League opponents this weekend. The Bison play host to Holy Cross on Friday, Nov. 8 and then competed against Army on Saturday, Nov. 9. Both contests have a start time of 7 p.m.
