Bucknell Volleyball Concludes Season With 3-0 Loss To Lehigh

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Friday evening, the Bucknell volleyball team concluded its season when it dropped a 3-0 decision to second-seeded Lehigh in the semifinals at the Patriot League Tournament. The Bison finish the 2002 season with a 15-13 overall record and 9-5 in the Patriot League.
Bucknell came to the court Friday with a goal to capture its first victory over the Mountain Hawks during the 2002 campaign. The Bison led the first game for the first 13 points. The Bison struggled to match Lehigh's 10 assisted blocks and fell in game one, 30-24. The Orange and Blue continued to challenge Lehigh in the second game of the match. Melanie Ghiz assisted the team with three straight serves to tie the score 15-15. The score bounced between the two teams until Lehigh snatched the second game, 30-27. In game three, the Mountain Hawks continued the winning streak, 30-24, while capturing the match victory.
The Mountain Hawks will continue play on Saturday, Nov. 23, against the winner of the American-Army match. The Championship game will start at 4 p.m. in Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.
Jennifer Wrigley led the team while hitting .417 and tallying 11 digs. Ghiz captured 12 kills and hit .258 for the Bison. The Bison were strong in the dig category, while capturing 72 versus Lehigh's 65. Breean Trapasso shared team-high 14 digs and marked 28 assists. Chelsea Anderson also tallied team-high 14 digs. Brandi Trapasso recorded 10 kills and 12 digs for the Bison. Chelsea Robertson grabbed 12 digs to complete the double digits in that column.
