Bucknell Volleyball Heads To American For 2002 Patriot League Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's volleyball team has clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Championship tournament at American University in Washington, D.C. The Bison completed regular season play and secured their third place seed with a 3-0 victory over conference foe Colgate on Saturday.
The Bison enter the tournament with a 15-12 overall record and 9-5 in the league. Head Coach Cindy Opalski will escort the Bison to the playoffs for the eighth time in the last nine years. The Orange and Blue will play second-seeded Lehigh on Friday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m.
Senior Melanie Ghiz has led Bucknell this season recording 396 kills and hitting .253, and junior Brandi Trapasso has added 305 kills. Junior Breean Trapasso has compiled 1,075 assists for the season.
American will host the tournament and will play fourth-seeded Army in the first round of the tournament at 7 p.m. The winner of each of the matches will play on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. in Bender Area.
Admission will be charged for the 2002 Tournament. The ticket price at the door is $10.00 for adults, while admission for students and staff with institutional ID is free. There is also a $5.00 group discount rate if Bucknell signs up at least 10 fans. Those interested in the group rate should contact Scott Ostrow at 570-577-3301 at the Bucknell Ticketing Office.
