Bucknell Volleyball Clinches Playoff Berth In Patriot League

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell volleyball team captured a 3-0 victory over the Colgate Raiders to clinch a third place seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The Bison completed the regular season of play 15-12 overall and 9-5 in the league.
Saturday evening, the Bison started the night off celebrating the career of its two seniors, Melanie Ghiz and Jennifer Wrigley. The Orange and Blue continued their celebration after capturing the 3-0 victory over the Raiders.
Bucknell fought long and hard for the first game of the night, which ended in a close 30-28 score. The Raiders did not stop the momentum, but fell again to the Bison in the second game of the evening, 30-28. In the third game, the Bison pulled ahead with a 10-point lead within the first 15 points of the game and did not look back. The Bison closed the match 30-23 and accomplished the night's-best .394 hitting percentage.
Ghiz recorded 13 kills for the night and hit a team-high .370, while Wrigley tallied 11 digs for the Bison. Freshman Courtney Clark recorded 10 kills on the night and tallied a .368 hitting percentage. Junior Breean Trapasso dished 31 assists and team-high 12 digs for the Orange and Blue. Junior Brandi Trapasso gave Bucknell 10 digs to close the double digits in the dig column.
With tonight's victory, Bucknell has clinched the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will play second-seeded Lehigh on Friday, Nov. 22, in Washington, D.C.
