Bison Volleyball Downs Patriot League Opponent Holy Cross, 3-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - Bucknell women's volleyball was victorious over Patriot League host Holy Cross, 3-0, on Friday night. Junior Brandi Trapasso marked her 1,000th career dig, now tallying a total of 1,003 digs. Trapasso is only the third Bucknell athlete to reach the thousand mark in career digs on the all-time charts.
Bucknell captured their first win in game one of the match, 30-22. In the second game, the Bison returned to the court to grab a 30-17 win over the Crusaders. During the third game, Holy Cross climbed back from a 20-16 deficit and came back within two points (21-19). Senior Bison Melanie Ghiz' six kills paved the way for the Orange and Blue to close the match with a 30-25 victory.
Ghiz led the Bison when she marked 14 kills for the night, while hitting an even .500. Senior Jennifer Wrigley marked nine kills for the Bison and Brandi Trapasso captured eight digs and eight kills for Bucknell. Junior Breean Trapasso tallied 35 assists in tonight's match. The team worked together to mark a total of 14 block assists.
The victory lifted Bucknell over the .500 mark and the Bison now hold a 9-8 overall record and are 3-2 in the Patriot League. Bucknell will face Patriot League Conference opponent Army in West Point, N.Y. tomorrow evening, Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:00 p.m.
