LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), a member of the Bucknell University women's basketball team, has been tabbed the Patriot League Player of the Week for the third-consecutive week for the week ending January 20.
Creamer made a place for herself in the Bucknell and Patriot League record books with a tremendous effort in a 2-0 week for the Bison. The 5-10 guard set or tied four different records, including points in a game with 43, in a 79-69 win over Army on Wednesday, before tossing in 35 points in Bucknell's 85-76 overtime win at American on Saturday.
Creamer came out firing against Army, scoring 20 points in the first half on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor, 4-of-7 from behind the arc. She entered the contest needing just four three-pointers to become the school's all-time career leader, and got that in the first half. The junior was not done, though. Creamer nailed 9-of-10 shots from the floor, and all four of her three-point attempts, in the second half on her way to a Bucknell and Patriot League single-game scoring record of 43. In addition, the eight treys in the contest set a new single-game standard at Bucknell, and her 16 made field goals tied the school and conference mark. Creamer rounded out her record-setting performance with five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
The floor general carried her hot hand into the contest against American, making her first four shots of the game, all three-pointers. She finished the first half with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and went on to score 35 points in the overtime victory. Creamer had another solid all-around game, leading the squad with seven assists, four steals and a career-best three blocks in the contest.
For the week, Creamer averaged 39.0 points per game, 6.0 assists per game, 4.5 steals per game and 2.0 blocks per game.
She is leading the team and the Patriot League in scoring with 21.9 points per game, and her 1,381 career points place her fourth on the Bucknell all-time list.
The Bison are currently 11-6 overall, 4-0 in the conference, and continue Patriot League competition with a contest at Colgate on Wednesday, January 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
