Bucknell Volleyball Takes Care of Virginia Commonwealth, 3-1

RICHMOND, Va. - The Bucknell University volleyball team used a balanced team effort to get by tournament host Virginia Commonwealth 3-1 (23-30, 30-23, 30-18, 30-27) at the Virginia Commonwealth Invitational Friday evening.
The Bison bumped their record to 3-1 with the win, while the Rams dropped to 2-4.
Jackie Leahy enjoyed her first collegiate "double-double" to lead the Bison. Leahy posted a match-high 14 kills to go with 10 digs, both career-highs for the freshmen outside hitter.
Senior Shannon Walker also turned in a solid match for Bucknell with 12 kills, while classmate Whitney Williams posted a match-high 32 assists along with five service aces and nine digs. Sophomore Brandi Trapasso also hit double digits for the Bison with 10 digs and a match-high six service aces, while senior Angela Gano chipped in with 10 digs as well.
The Bison will return to the court tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. when they take on the University of San Francisco. Bucknell will then face Elon University at 2 p.m. to conclude tournament play.
