Balanced Effort Leads Bison Volleyball Over Navy, 3-1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - One night after losing its first Patriot League match of the season, the Bucknell University volleyball rebounded to beat Navy 3-1 this evening in Patriot League play.
The Bison won for the fourth time in five matches to improve to 7-5 and 3-1 in the Patriot League, while Navy dropped to 4-7 and 2-2 in league play.
Bucknell used a balanced team effort to get by the Midshipmen, with three different players reaching double figures in kills. Senior Melanie Gray recorded a team-high 15 kills to go with a match-high five blocks. She made just three errors on 29 attempts for a .414 hitting percentage. Senior Shannon Walker posted 14 kills and three blocks, and sophomore Brandi Trapasso notched a "double-double" with 11 kills and 12 digs. Senior Whitney Williams added a team-high 35 assists, and sophomore Breean Trapasso contributed 13 assists.
Bucknell lost 30-17 in the opening set, but rebounded to win the next three games by scores of 33-31, 30-21, and 31-29.
The Bison return home on Tuesday when they face conference opponent Colgate University at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last season's Patriot League Championship match.
