Bison Volleyball Downs Central Connecticut State at Marist Tournament

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Sophomore Brandi Trapasso recorded 17 digs, 10 kills and six service aces to lead the Bucknell University volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Central Connecticut State as the Bison concluded play in the Marist Tournament this afternoon.
Central Connecticut built a 1-0 advantage after a 30-27 victory in game one, but the Bison responded by winning games two and three 30-20 and 30-24. After a 30-24 setback in game four, Bucknell came out on top by a 15-8 margin in the fifth and deciding game.
Senior Shannon Walker continued her outstanding play in the tournament with 20 kills against Central Connecticut after picking up 42 kills in two matches on Friday. Senior Whitney Williams dished out 44 assists while senior Angela Gano added 13 digs. Freshman Jackie Leahy also enjoyed a solid match with 12 kills.
Bucknell went 2-1 for the tournament after defeating Marist and losing to Towson Friday evening.
The Bison will pick up their 2001 schedule on Friday when they take on Virginia Commonwealth University at 7 p.m. in the VCU Tournament.
