Lewisburg, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Stephanie Morgan (Allentown, Pa./Dieruff) has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of March in Softball.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, April 2. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of March, as selected by their respective coaches, were junior Melissa Montefusco for lacrosse, freshman Maria Garcia for outdoor track & field, sophomore Jill Wurzburg for tennis, senior Paige Cull for water polo and sophomore Lisa Baranik for crew.
Morgan has played in 28 games for the Bison this season. In 77 at bats, she is carrying a .299 batting average on the season. She has 23 hits and is second on the squad with 11 runs scored this season. Being a tri-captain, Coach Breneman looks to Morgan for leadership, a role that she has fulfilled well this season.
The Bison are now 11-16-2 on the season and are in action again on April 10th when they host Seton Hall for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
