Lewisburg, Pa. -- Bucknell sophomore Jill Wurzburg (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of March in Women's Tennis.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, April 2. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of March, as selected by their respective coaches, were junior Melissa Montefusco for lacrosse, freshman Maria Garcia for outdoor track & field, senior Steph Morgan for softball, senior Paige Cull for water polo and sophomore Lisa Baranik for crew.
Wurzburg plays at the number one spot for the Bison. She picked up a win at the first flight to help Bucknell to a 6-1 win over Mount St. Mary's. Her leadership efforts have helped the Bison to earn four wins this season and Wurzburg currently holds a doubles record of 4-3 on the season.
The Bison are now 4-6 on the year and will be in action again on April 11th when they host Millersville at 4:00 p.m.
