Forfeits Costly to Bison Grapplers in 22-19 Loss to Lycoming

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lycoming picked up 12 of its 22 points on two Bucknell forfeits, enough to defeat the Bison 22-19 in the season openers for both wrestling squads. Bucknell captured five of the eight bouts that were contested, but did not compete in the 141 and 165-pound weight classes.
Josh Perrin's third-period pin of T.J. Hunsberger at 125 pounds snapped a 13-13 tie and gave the Bison a 19-13 lead with two weight classes remaining. But Lycoming's Matt Hoffman used a six-point first period to claim an 11-9 decision over Justin Hartrum at 133 to make it 19-16, and Andy Squires won by forfeit at 141 to end the match.
The dual began with Lycoming's Jeremy Adams claiming a 5-3 victory over Tommy Doerr at 149 pounds. Bucknell 157-pounder Rocky Miller answered with a 7-5 decision over Dan Winter before Lycoming assumed a 9-3 lead with a walkover at 165.
The Herd captured the next three bouts, getting close wins from Brock Hostetter at 174 and Brian Neuman at 184, and an 11-3 major decision from Brian Falciglia at 197. Lycoming got the major points back right away when Al Fluman topped Andy Herbert 11-3, tying the match at 13-apiece.
The Bison return to action on Nov. 24 at Mat Town USA at Lock Haven.
