Colgate Tops Bucknell Volleyball 3-0 in Regular Season Finale

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Shannon Wallker posted a team-high 11 kills, but the Bucknell University volleyball team fell to Colgate University, 3-0, in Patriot League action Saturday evening at Colgate in both teams' regular season finale.
Colgate won by scores of 30-24, 30-22 and 33-31. The Raiders out-hit Bucknell .235-.106.
The Bison, who will participate in the Patriot League Championship tournament next weekend, dropped to 12-11 and 7-7 in league play. Colgate closed out the season at 13-17 and 6-8.
Senior Melanie Gray also reached double figures for the Bison with 10 kills. She made only two errors on 26 attempts for a .308 hitting percentage. Sophomore Breean Trapasso dished out a team-high 17 assists, while sophomore Brandi Trapasso and freshman Jackie Leahy recorded a team-high eight digs apiece. Walker and Gray each registered three blocks.
Amanda Routman led Colgate with match-highs of 15 kills and 11 digs, and Michelle Mahaney led all players with eight blocks.
Bucknell concluded the regular season in fourth place in the Patriot League standings to earn the No. 4 seed in next weekend's Patriot League Championship tournament. The Bison will take on tournament host and top-seeded American University at noon next Saturday in the opening round, while No. 2 Lehigh will face No. 3 Army at 2:30 p.m. The winners of Saturday's semi-final matches will meet in the championship match back at American on Sunday.
