Freshmen Represent Bucknell Women's Tennis at ITA Regional Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshmen Nadezda Curcic (Serbia/3rd Belgrade) and Ashley Diers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) represented Bucknell women's tennis at the ITA Omni Hotels Eastern Region Tennis Championship, being held at the University of Pennsylvania this weekend.
Curcic was the Bison representative in singles action. The rookie dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Kim Barfuss of Seton Hall. The loss knocked Curcic out of the competition.
In the single elimination doubles tournament, Curcic and Diers teamed up to challenge Maryland's Delila Causevic and Emily Marker. The duo came out on the losing end of a 8-0 decision.
The ITA Championship ends the fall portion of the Bucknell women's tennis team's 2001-02 season. The squad will open play in the spring at the College of New Jersey Invitational on February 9-10.
Singles 1. Kim Barfuss (Seton Hall) vs. Nadezda Curcic - 6-1, 6-4.
Doubles 1. Delila Causevic/Emily Marker (Maryland) vs. Curcic/Ashley Diers - 8-0.
