COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Williams Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for 9/18-25
Lewisburg, Pa. --- Junior setter, Whitney Williams (LaJolla, Calif./LaJolla) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts against Loyola and at the Bucknell Subway Classic.
Early in the week, the Bison traveled to Maryland to play against Loyola. Williams' strong week began here with a 36 set assist outing. Williams good fortune continued when the Orange and Blue hosted the Subway Classic, in three matches Williams averaged 29 set assists and 12.6 digs. In the championship match versus Villanova, Williams achieved a career high for digs in a match with 25. Bucknell finished in second to Villanova who defeated the Bison in the final contest. At the conclusion of the tournament, Williams was selected to the all-tournament team by the coaches along with teammate Brooke Bader. Williams 87 set assists over the weekend and her 36 against Villanova brings her career total to 1286, moving her into fourth all-time for career set assists. She will move into the third spot all-time with only 41 more set assists.
Williams will help lead the Bison to victory this coming weekend when they open conferenceplay against Navy on Friday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Davis Gymnasium.
