Bucknell Wrestling Drops Two Matches to Drexel and Duke

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling team has fallen to 1-3 on the season with a 33-9 loss at Drexel and a 23-17 defeat versus Duke at Drexel on Saturday, December 2.
In the first match against Drexel, the Bison fell behind early, trailing 12-0 before junior Ben Chunko (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) got them on the board with a win by fall over his opponent at 174-pounds, to cut it to 12-6. After a Drexel win at 184 pounds, junior Brian Falciglia (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) made it 18-9 with a 7-4 victory at the 197-pound weight class. That would be all the scoring Bucknell would do as the Dragons won the final three bouts of the meet.
Against Duke, the Orange and Blue once again trailed early, falling behind 7-0 before senior co-captain Ryan Fasnacht (Tremont, Pa./ Pine Grove) at 165 pounds and Chunko tied the match at 7-7 with two victories by decision. A Duke win at 184 pounds put the Blue Devils back in the lead, 13-7, and it was a lead they would not relinquish. Bucknell got as close as five when sophomore Josh Perrin (Boswell, Pa./Somerset) defeated his opponent by a 4-0 decision to cut it to 19-14, but a major decision by Duke at 122 pounds made a BU victory impossible. Sophomore Brandn Green (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) ended the match with an 8-5 decision at 141 pounds to make it 23-17 in Duke's favor.
The Bison fall to 1-3 overall and are in action again tomorrow, December 3, at the Penn State Open.
