Bucknell Holds Lead In 2000-2001 Presidents' Cup Race

LEWISBURG, PA - The Patriot League office released the official point totals in the race for the conference's coveted Presidents' Cup on Tuesday, and Bucknell holds an early lead following the fall athletic season. The Bison captured team championships in volleyball and women's cross country, and finished among the top-four in four additional sports to tally 36 points, four-and-a-half points higher than the current runner-up, Colgate (31.5).
In addition to the team titles, the Orange and Blue placed second in men's cross country and field hockey, and lost in the semifinals in both men's and women's soccer.
In the race for the women's all-sports trophy, Bucknell has the lead with 23.5 points, followed by Holy Cross at 20. On the men's side, the Bison currently sit in third place behind Lehigh and Colgate with 12.5 points.
Bucknell has dominated the Presidents' Cup, winning the all-sports trophy in seven of the league's ten years. In addition, Bucknell has captured the women's trophy six times, including the last three years, and the men's trophy twice.
The Patriot League office is responsible for releasing the standings three times during the course of the year, after the fall season, following the winter season, and at the conclusion of the academic year.
