Volleyball Team Headed To Wisconsin For First-Round Of NCAA Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell volleyball team has earned a 16-seed in the NCAA Tournament and will travel to the University of Wisconsin for its first round match on Friday, December 1. The Bison qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the Patriot League Championship on November 19, with a 3-0 victory over Colgate.
The Orange and Blue will face the first-seed Wisconsin (28-3) on Friday immediately following the #8-#9 match-up between Western Michigan (25-5) and Northern Iowa (28-4) at 5:00 p.m. The victor's of these two contests will face-off against each other on Saturday, December 2, to determine which school advances to the "Sweet Sixteen" at a site yet to be determined.
The Bucknell volleyball team returns to the NCAA Tournament after a one-year hiatus from the post-season tourney. In 1998, the Bison squared off against first-seed Penn State in State College, Pa. Bucknell was defeated 3-0 in the contest and finished the season with a 16-12 overall record. In 2000, the Orange and Blue carry a 17-14 overall record and an arsenal of offensive and defensive weapons. This is the second NCAA Tournament appearance for the Herd in a three-year span.
