Aimee Barrett Named Assistant Softball Coach

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Aimee Barrett, a 1999 graduate of Mississippi State University, has been named assistant softball coach at Bucknell University, Head Coach Janelle Breneman announced.
Barrett joins the Bucknell coaching staff this year as the primary instructor of the outfielders.
Barrett was a two-year member of the St. Louis Community College at Meramec Softball team from 1994-96, before joining the Mississippi State University team from 1996-98. While at Mississippi State, Barrett and the Lady Bulldogs participated in the Southeastern Conference Softball Championships.
During her stay at Mississippi, Barrett was a President's Scholar, a two-time Southeastern Conference Scholar Athlete and a two-year member of the Mississippi State University Athlete Honor Roll.
Barrett brings a wealth of softball knowledge and experience to the coaching staff. In 1995-96, she was a participant in the National Junior College Athletic Association Softball Tournament. In 1998, Barrett participated in the Women's Professional Softball League Tryout in St. Petersburg, Fla.
In addition to her playing experience, Barrett spent the 1998-99 season as a student assistant coach at Mississippi State, in addition to serving as a camp instructor at the Mississippi State Softball Camp in 1999. Barrett spent last season as the Assistant Softball Coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis before coming to Lewisburg.
Barrett joins a team that went 10-26 last season and 2-8 in the Patriot League. The Bison compete in the conference with Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh.
Bucknell sponsors 28 intercollegiate sports, 14 each for men and women, at the Division I level (I-AA in football). It is a charter member of the Patriot League and has won the league's all-sports championship in seven of the ten years it has been contested. Bucknell continually ranks among the top institutions in student-athlete graduation rate in Division I every year and ranks third in Division I in producing GTE Academic All-Americans.
