Bison Improve To 3-0 In Patriot League With Win Over Army

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: BUCKNELL 3, Army 2
West Point, N.Y. --- This evening the Bucknell volleyball team tallied its third straight Patriot League victory of the season with a 3-2 win over Army.
The Bison fell in the first set 15-11 but came back to win the next two games 15-2 and 15-7 putting Army up against a wall. Army responded by winning the fourth game 15-7, forcing the match to a fifth and final set. The Orange and Blue pulled it together in the final game of the match and defeated the Cadets 15-11, taking the match 3-2.
The Orange and Blue were led this evening by some great hitting and solid defense. Junior middle hitter Shannon Walker (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) put together her best match of the year finishing with 21 kills on 36 attempts with only 3 errors for a hitting percentage of .500. Following the example set by Walker were senior Brooke Bader (Elryia, Ohio/Elryia) and freshman Brandi Trapasso (N. Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) with 12 and nine kills respectively. Trapasso had yet another strong evening on the defensive end of things finishing with 13 digs in the contest.
The volleyball team improves to 7-11 on the season and a perfect 3-0 record in conference play. The Orange and Blue will play again tomorrow night when they play against Patriot League competitor Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. The game will have a 7:00 p.m. starting time and will be the final conference match-up for the Bison on their fall break trip.
