LEWISBURG, Pa. --- More than 800 high school athletes will be in action when the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys and Girls Cross Country Championships are held at Bucknell University on Saturday, November 4.
The Girls Class AA is first of four races beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the Girls AAA championship at 10:45, the Boys AA competition at 11:30 and the Boys AAA race at 12:15. All four races will start and finish on the Bucknell West fields, located immediately west of Route 15. The race course includes portions of the Bucknell Golf Club course and the fields adjoining the course to the east. Each championship race includes 22 seven-person teams from eleven districts throughout the state and 110 individual contestants.
The championship races are expected to attract several thousand spectators to the Bucknell campus. Spectator traffic for the races will be directed to the Weis Center parking lot and other parking areas adjacent to Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, and spectators will then cross Route 15 using the tunnel immediately west of the Bucknell Field House. Spectators for the meet will be charged $5.00 for parking.
This is the second time Bucknell has hosted the PIAA cross country championships, with the last occurring in 1996.
