Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame

Stanley J. Durtan
- Induction:
- 1998
- Class:
- 1973
A three-year letterman at tackle, Stan Durtan was one of the finest offensive linemen to play for the Bucknell football team. The fourth member of the 1972 team to be elected to the Hall of Fame, Durtan was perhaps the most honored player on that 6-3 unit. A three-year starter for the Bison, he was selected to the All-Pennsylvania, ECAC All-East and New York Times All-East First Teams, as well as the Little All-America Third Team. Following graduation, Durtan was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He came to Bucknell from Swoyersville, Pa., and Wyoming Valley West High School. He went on to earn a master's degree from Bucknell and his doctor of education from the University of Virginia. He later became a school principal and superintendent.Â
