Bob Albert was a co-captain and fullback on the undefeated (9-0) 1951 Bucknell football team. Albert played in the Blue-Gray Game in Montgomery, Ala., was an honorary captain and first-team defensive back on the 1951 AP All-Pennsylvania Team, was named to the second All-East team selected by the AP, and received honorable mention on the AP Little All-America team. Albert, who came to Bucknell from Mount Lebanon (Pa.) High School, rushed for 1,037 yards and scored 11 touchdowns in his sophomore and junior years at Bucknell. As a senior, he was primarily a blocking fullback for "Touchdown Twins" Brad Myers and Burt Talmage, also Hall-of-Famers, but he did run 82 times for 321 yards. He also scored two touchdowns, completed 10 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns, and on defense intercepted three passes. In a 62-32 victory over Buffalo that year, the 6'0", 190-pounder attempted and completed three passes for 137 yards and a TD from his fullback position. Also president of his senior class at Bucknell, Albert lettered in baseball and was an intramural heavyweight boxing champion.Â
