The finest diver in Bucknell history, Bob Richards won the Middle Atlantic Conference one and three-meter championships in 1973 and 1974. He co-captained the swimming and diving team as a senior and set a school dual meet scoring record. He was a member of teams that won 36 of 43 dual meets and four straight conference titles. Richards set one-meter (310.55) and three-meter (319.8) team scoring records, which were retired when the NCAA went to a new scoring format in the early 2000s. A graduate of Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy, Richards scored in the Eastern Championships, was named to the Dean's List five times at Bucknell, and received the ECAC Medallion for athletic and scholastic excellence. He went on to graduate from Temple University Medical School and became an orthopedic surgeon.Â
