A three-year letterman in football and wrestling, Dick Kaufmann captained the 1967 football team and was co-captain of the wrestling team as a junior and senior. He began his football career at Bucknell as a fullback but was moved to defensive end at the beginning of his junior year. He was twice named to the All-Pennsylvania second team and All-Middle Atlantic Conference first team at the new position. Kaufmann's career dual-match wrestling record was 17-12-2, and as a senior he won Bucknell's Outstanding Multiple Sport Athlete award and the Christy Mathewson Award as the top senior athlete. The top accounting student in his class and a cum laude graduate, Kaufmann earned an MBA from Harvard and later turned to the ministry. He came to Bucknell from Oakcrest High School in Egg Harbor, N.J.Â
