Dick Tyrrell captained the 1962 Bucknell football team and was a three-time selection as a first-team end on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference team. Also an Associated Press honorable mention All-American for three straight years, Tyrrell was the leading receiver as a sophomore on the 1960 team that won the Lambert Cup. He held the school receiving record at when he graduated and was on the AP All-Pennsylvania second team and UPI All-East third team as a senior. He received honorable mention on the UPI All-America team. Tyrrell, who played baseball as a senior and batted .304 as the starting centerfielder, finished his football career with 70 receptions for 912 yards. Tyrrell, who came to Bucknell from Woodbridge (N.J.) High School, later served in the U.S. Coast Guard.Â
