Peter von Hoffmann was a four-time All-East Coast Conference lacrosse player and a two-time All-American at Bucknell. He was twice co-captain, was ECC Most Valuable Player in 1979 and was selected for the North-South Game. An attackman who received All-America honorable mention in 1977 and was a Third Team selection in 1979, his 220 career points held up as the Bucknell scoring record until 2005. He also set the career assists mark with 138. von Hoffmann scored nine or more points in a game on six occasions, including a record 11 against Penn State in 1979. A native of Montclair, N.J., von Hoffmann was lacrosse coach at Lehigh in 1981 and was named to the Club All-America Team in 1983. He served as head coach at Montclair High School, his alma mater, for nine years and was named the 2010 State Coach of the Year by The Star-Ledger. He was inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1997.
