Nick Farina was a three-year football letterman and Dean's List student as an undergraduate. He co-captained the 1933 football team, the final one coached by Hall of Famer Carl Snavely. Recipient of All-America honorable mention at center after helping lead the Bison to a 7-2 record in 1933, he received a master's degree from NYU in 1936 and was football coach at Lawrence (N.Y.) High School from 1936-45. His teams there lost only seven games while posting four undefeated seasons and winning Nassau County and Long Island Championships. A school principal for 32 years before retiring in 1977, Farina also officiated college and professional football games for 15 years and served nearly 30 years in local government, including 14 as mayor of Cedarhurst, N.Y. A graduate of Steelton (Pa.) High School, Farina was the 1965 recipient of Bucknell's Alumni Award for Meritorious Achievement and he also received numerous civic, educational and service awards.Â
