In 1998, Anders was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Year after posting another 8-3 record with a 2.96 earned-run average for a team that won a school-record 31 games. A First Team All-Patriot League selection as a senior, he was also a two-time ECAC All-Star. Anders, who also played some basketball at Bucknell, captained the baseball team his senior year, and he earned the Bison Club Award at the annual Senior Awards Dinner.
Anders came to Bucknell from Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Md. Following graduation from Bucknell, he played some independent league baseball before returning to Lewisburg to obtain a master's degree and serve as Hall-of-Famer Gene Depew's pitching coach. He helped coach the 2001 squad to another Patriot League title and an NCAA Regional berth in Coral Gables, Fla.
