Michael C.L. Bright
- Induction:
- 2005
- Class:
- 1993
Mike Bright was the top player on Bucknell's outstanding teams of the early 1990s. He was the Patriot League Player of the Year as a senior in 1993, when he led the Bison to a 23-6 record and the league's regular-season title. Outstanding in all phases of the game, Bright is one of Bucknell's all-time scoring leaders with 1,670 points. That total ranked third on the school's career list at the time of his graduation, trailing only fellow Hall-of-Famers Al Leslie and Bob Barry. Bright also remained the school's career steals leader with 286, which was a whopping 113 steals more than any other player in Bison annals at the time of his induction. Bright also nabbed 834 career rebounds and frequently brought the Davis Gym crowds out of their seats with his high-flying dunks.
Bright graduated as Bucknell's career leader in 3-point field goals with 206, and in 1993 he shot an amazing 9-for-10 from 3-point range in a win over Loyola (Md.). A four-year starter and member of the Patriot League's All-Decade Team, Bright also ranked among Bucknell's all-time leaders in blocked shots (120) and games played (117). The Monessen, Pa., native earned the Christy Mathewson Award as the top senior athlete in his class in 1993.Â
