Marjorie A. Grap Goedel
- Induction:
- 2019
- Class:
- 2007
Marjorie Grap Goedel will go down as one of the top woman throwers in Bucknell track and field history. She was a big part of the stellar Class of 2007 that went 8-for-8 at the Patriot League Championships, winning all four indoor titles and all four outdoor crowns. Grap piled up points for the Bison by claiming nine career league titles. Indoors, she won gold in the 20-pound weight throw in each of her final three years and also claimed the shot put in 2005. Outdoors, Grap captured three league titles in the discus throw (2005, 2006, 2007) and one each in the shot put (2005) and hammer throw (2006). She was the 2005 Patriot League Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet.
Â
Grap also won an ECAC title in the weight throw in 2007, and she was an NCAA Regionals qualifier in the hammer and discus in both 2006 and 2007. In the record books, Grap became the Bucknell record-holder in the indoor weight throw (65-7.5), breaking Hall-of-Famer Maria Garcia’s previous mark by more than 11 feet. That mark also shattered the Patriot League record, and it ranked 15th nationally that year. In addition, Grap ranked No. 2 behind Garcia in the hammer throw and ranked in the top 10 in both the shot put and discus. Grap was the 2007 recipient of the Bison Club Award.
A graduate of Spencer-Van Etten High School in New York State, Grap was inducted into her high school alma mater's Hall of Fame in 2018.
