One of Bucknell's top woman athletes of her era, Margaret Philleo Ricci competed in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse during a busy and successful career. In field hockey, she was selected to the Susquehanna All-Star Team three straight years. She played on the Mideast Regional tournament team all four years at Bucknell and was selected to the All-Mideast second team. She played in a U.S. National Field Hockey tournament during her senior year. Philleo Ricci scored seven goals as a freshman on an 8-2 team. The squad went 29-10-5 during her career in its early days as a varsity program. Philleo Ricci played four years of lacrosse as well, and as a junior was named to the All-Central Pennsylvania Second Team. She was a three-year member of the women's basketball team and received the Scholar Athlete Award in 1979. A native of Annandale, Va., Philleo Ricci maintained a 4.0 grade-point average as a Russian and geology major, and she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
