Lynnette McBride '91 is one of the true stars of the Bucknell women's track and field program, a superior athlete who helped set the stage for the championship-caliber program of today. McBride won Patriot League long jump titles both indoors and outdoors as a senior, and she was the East Coast Conference outdoor long jump champion in 1990. She graduated with the school records in the indoor 55-meter dash (7.24), 300-meter dash (37.6) and indoor long jump (18-10 3/4), which she broke by a whopping 8 3/4 inches. Outdoors, her time of 12.21 in the 100-meter dash ranked second at the time to Hall-of-Famer Sue Rowland, and she was the co-record-holder in the long jump (19-0 1/4) at graduation, alongside Hall-of-Famer Jill Wise.

Also an outstanding relay competitor, McBride ran the anchor leg of Bucknell's victorious 4x400-meter relay that clinched the team title for the Bison at the inaugural Patriot League Outdoor Championships in 1991. She helped break school records in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
McBride, who came to Bucknell from Evans City, Pa., and Seneca Valley High School, won the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for indoor track and field as a senior, and she was a winner of the Christy Mathewson Award as the top senior athlete in her class. McBride went on to earn her MBA from Harvard Business School. She was living and working in New York City as a fast-rising businessperson when she tragically passed away in 2012 at the age of 42.
