A three-year football letterman and co-captain of the 1938 Bison team with Hall-of-Famer Bill Lane, Lou Tomasetti received Little All-America recognition as a senior. An outstanding runner who had four 100-yard rushing games in his career, Tomasetti was on the last Bucknell team to defeat Penn State (14-0 in 1938) and played with the College All-Stars against the Philadelphia Eagles in 1939. He later played in the National Football League with Pittsburgh (1939-40), Detroit (1941), and Philadelphia (1941-42) and in the All-America Football Conference with Buffalo (1948-49). He was an 11th-round pick (92nd overall) of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1939 NFL draft, and he went on to score 120 points and collect four pass interceptions during his professional career. Tomasetti came to Bucknell from Old Forge (Pa.) High School.Â
