Kurt Manrodt was an outstanding guard on Bucknell football teams coached by "Hook" Mylin and Al Humphreys. A two-year starter, he played on teams that registered consecutive scoreless ties with Temple, played all but 11 minutes of his junior season, and as a senior was a standout on the team that defeated Penn State 14-0, the last Bison victory over the Nittany Lions. Manrodt received All-Pennsylvania honors in 1938 and later played with the Philadelphia All-Stars against the Philadelphia Eagles. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a veteran of service in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in World War I, Manrodt later had a general practice in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. He was a founder, member of the original Board of Trustees and president of the medical staff of the Chilton Memorial Hospital, and in August 1982 was named medical director of the Hospital's Sports Medicine Department. Active in a wide range of community affairs, Manrodt received Bucknell's Alumni Award for Contributions to Fellow Men in 1968.
