One of the first two women elected to the Hall of Fame alongside Bobbi Castens-Seidell, Wegener Knisely was Bucknell's first three-sport (field hockey, basketball, lacrosse) captain in 40 years and set scoring records in both field hockey and lacrosse. In hockey, she established seemingly unbreakable Bison career records for points (122) and goals (55), and she also set single-season marks with 21 goals and 49 points in 1977. Three times she scored four goals in a game, and she was selected to the Mid-East Team for the National Field Hockey Tournament for four straight years. She joined three other players from Bucknell on the team that won the Third International Friendship Tournament in Mexico City in 1978. In her basketball career, she averaged 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds. In lacrosse, her 52 goals were a record at the time. The recipient of the Bison Club Award and the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award at graduation, Wegener Knisely was also an outstanding student who earned a Fulbright Scholarship for research in freshwater biology at the University of Konstanz in Germany. A graduate of Abington (Pa.) High School, Wegener Knisely went on to become a faculty member in the Department of Biology at Bucknell and a member of the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame Committee.Â
