Jack Filer played three years of varsity football and basketball, co-captained the 1936 football team with Hall of Famer Stu Smith and, as a sophomore, was the starting right end on the team that played in the inaugural Orange Bowl game on January 1, 1935 (a 26-0 win over Miami). Filer was selected to the College All-Star team that played against the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, and from 1937 until his retirement in 1967 was employed by the U.S. Steel Corporation. Filer came to Bucknell from Woodbury, N.J., and the Peddie School.
