John Dailey was an outstanding linebacker for Bucknell in the early 1970s and co-captained the Bison football team in 1973. "Hondo" was selected to the College Division Academic All-America first team in 1973, was on the Eastern College Athletic Conference first team in 1972 and 1973, and was selected to the Associated Press All-Pennsylvania Team for three straight years. A three-year starter, Dailey received Defensive Player of the Week awards in each of his varsity seasons, won the Stuart M. Smith Award as the outstanding sophomore in 1971, and received the Lewisburg Touchdown Club Award as the Most Valuable Player in 1973. Named to the Universal Sports Small College All-America Second Team as a senior, he received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and graduated summa cum laude from the Syracuse College of Law in 1977. Dailey, who came to Bucknell from Hornell (N.Y.) High School, later worked in the Attorney General's Office of the State of Colorado, and he was appointed judge on the Colorado Court of Appeals in 2000.Â
