- Class:
- 1935
George "Butch" Boiston was a 200-pound tackle and co-captain on the 1934 Bucknell football team that posted a 6-2-2 regular-season record, including victories over Penn State and Villanova, and then defeated Miami 26-0 in the inaugural Orange Bowl game on January 1, 1935. A three-year letterman who was praised by his contemporaries as both an outstanding lineman and dedicated leader, Boiston recovered a fumble to set up Bucknell's final touchdown in the Orange Bowl game, and he led a forward line that helped hold Miami to 38 yards of total offense. Boiston, who came to Bucknell from Bethayres, Pa., and Abington High School, continued to be a frequent spectator at Bison football games home and away after a long career with U.S. Banknote Corp.Â
