- Induction:
- 2014
- Class:
- 1996
Ed Burman was the MVP of the Bucknell football team and the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 1995, when the Bison finished 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League under then-first-year head coach Tom Gadd. Burman was also an Associated Press I-AA Third Team All-America selection that year, when he set a school record with 14.5 quarterback sacks and registered a league-high 25 tackles for loss. He broke his own single-season standard of 11 sacks from one year earlier, and his career total of 25.5 sacks was still tied for the most in program history at the time of his induction to the Hall of Fame. During that sensational 1995 season, Burman also totaled 101 tackles and one interception, which he returned 79 yards for a touchdown in a seven-point win over Fordham, and he led a defense that held four opponents to single-digit points.
Burman was also a Second Team All-Patriot League choice in 1994, and he earned the Christy Mathewson Award as the top senior athlete in his class at Bucknell.
