Eddie Halicki captained the 1928 Bucknell football team that finished with a 5-2-3 record, and he later played professional football and baseball. One of the outstanding Bucknell athletes of his time, Halicki lettered for three years in football and baseball and two in basketball. An outstanding runner at halfback and a placekicker in football, he was also a forward in basketball and a pitcher on the diamond. A junior during Carl Snavely's first year as head football coach, Halicki was successful on 19 of 20 extra-point attempts and scored the first touchdown of the game in victories over Penn State and Villanova. In his senior year, the team captain scored the only TD in a 6-0 victory over Penn State, he was outstanding in scoreless ties with highly regarded Lafayette and Washington & Jefferson, and he earned All-East honorable mention. Following graduation, Halicki signed a baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and later played football with the Frankford Yellow Jackets. He came to Bucknell from Hanover Township (Pa.) High School and later became a high school teacher and coach in the Wilkes-Barre area..
