Edward C. Myers
- Induction:
- 1979
- Class:
- 1934
Sport: Football
Edward C. "Speed" Myers called the signals for the Bucknell football team from his spot at right halfback. The three-year letterman was among the leading scorers in the East as a senior, scoring eight touchdowns, including three against Waynesburg. He was well-known for his "breath-taking" receiving abilities as well as for his rushing talent, which landed him on several All-East teams. Myers made as much of his post-graduate life as he did of his college years, rising eventually to a position as vice president of United States Steel. Myers was selected as a member of Sports Illustrated's 1958 Silver Anniversary Team, a squad whose roster included 25 star college football players 25 years out of college, who were judged to have combined career success with community service. A loyal Bucknellian always, he was president of his alumni class, a charter member of the William Bucknell Associates and a Patron of the University. Myers was selected as a winner of one of Bucknell's Alumni Awards in 1964, and in 1979 he was inducted with the inaugural Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame class.
