Dave Rath was one of the finest soccer players ever at Bucknell and held the school career goals record (42) for 20 years. The team scoring leader for three straight years (1967-69) and the Most Valuable Player in the Middle Atlantic Conference in 1969, he set season-scoring records with 23 goals and 48 points in 1969. He concluded his career with 98 points. Also an honorable mention All-MAC choice in 1968, Rath played on teams that had a combined 26-9-2 record, and the 1969 team was 10-1-2 and won the MAC championship. The only loss in the season was the only game that year in which he did not score. Rath, who came to Bucknell from Convent Station, N.J., and The Pingry School, also had a career 29-2 tennis singles record and was on teams that went 33-6 and won two MAC championships. Rath went on to earn an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972.Â
