- Class:
- 1927
Bucknell's director of publicity in the late 1920s and early 1930s, Art Brandon helped Bucknell gain an invitation to the inaugural Orange Bowl game in 1935. His public relations efforts on behalf of Bucknell in connection with that game brought considerable national attention to the university. Also an administrator at Vanderbilt, New York University, Texas and Michigan, and his alma mater, Alderson-Broaddus College, Brandon was a long-time member of Bucknell's Board of Trustees. A promoter of Bucknell sports for nearly 70 years, he did a masterful job of publicizing Bucknell's 6-2-2 1934 football team, which concluded the season with a victory over Penn State and a tie with heavily-favored Temple. He then introduced the university to the nation's sports fans with his many stories written in connection with the Orange Bowl.Â
