Captain of the 1935 baseball team and a three-year starter in football, basketball and baseball, John Sitarsky quarterbacked the 1935 grid squad that defeated Miami 26-0 in the first-ever Orange Bowl. He later served as varsity baseball coach (1938-43), freshman basketball coach (1937-42), freshman football coach (1936-41) and varsity football coach (1943) at his alma mater. Also an outstanding punter in football, he played on Bison grid teams that posted a 19-7-2 record. He played football for Hall of Fame coaches Carl Snavely and "Hook" Mylin, and basketball under Hall of Famer Mal Musser. Sitarsky came to Bucknell from Rutherford (N.J.) High School and was later a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II.Â
