Former Virginia Tech standout Jarrod Garnett joined the Bison wrestling coaching staff in July 2013. A 2013 All-American and a three-time ACC champion, Garnett wrapped up his decorated career last spring ranked third on the Hokies' all-time wins list with 126.
Garnett, a 125-pounder throughout his Virginia Tech career, posted three 30-win campaigns, registered a 126-29 overall record and his 63 career dual meet victories rank third in program history. He was the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2008-09, the 2013 ACC Championships Most Outstanding Wrestler, a three-time All-ACC selection and a four-time national qualifier.
One of just seven Virginia Tech wrestlers to reach 100 career victories, Garnett recorded 61 career bonus-point victories, including 24 by fall. He was 16-1 in ACC duals.
A Newark, Del., native and a Caravel Academy graduate, Garnett earned a bachelor's degree in apparel, housing and resource management, with a focus on consumer studies, from Virginia Tech. He was twice a Dean's List member.
Garnett has plenty of coaching experience, serving as a volunteer guest clinician at numerous wrestling summer camps from 2009 to 2012. He was also a four-year wrestling camp counselor at Virginia Tech's summer camps.
